Gregory Porter | 1960 What? (Opolopo Kick and Bass Rerub)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or North Korea, or whatever, you’ll no doubt have heard Gregory Porter’s soulful throwback ’1960 What?’ when it broke to universal acclaim in February last year. Porter’s since won a Grammy, and his album’s ubiquitous single received the remix treatment last October. Opolopo’s cut is easily our favourite, a subtle reworking which adds a throbbing bassline and then pretty much just leaves the original alone, which is alright by us. Moodymann played the remix to an ecstatic reception at Louche t’other week; listen here, then go get your hands on the wax.
